Class Descriptions

Vinyasa flow Yoga - 60 minutes mindful movement.  Vinyasa flow is all about movement and the flow of energy as you sync the body and the mind together through motion and breath. A vinyasa flow yoga class emphasises movement as you work through a sequence of postures, you'll move from one pose to the next without pause, and utilise breathing to move from one posture to the next.  Its appeal of practicing this type of yoga is found in its inconsistent nature since one vinyasa class will be very different from the next.  All levels welcome but also includes variations for those who wish to take their practice deeper. Includes Pranayama and meditation.

Gentle Yoga - 60 Minutes.  Gentle means to not force, and having said that, gentle yoga refers to the practice of yoga poses in a sequence which forms a gradual flow into the deeper aspect of the stretch to either gain flexibility, to recover from injury, for stress management and weight management, to reduce chronic conditions and to go deeper with the connection of the breath and the body.  The opening of the joints plays a great role in gentle yoga and slowly one gains confidence and strength.  The practice of gentle yoga is slow and each pose should be done for a longer duration to get maximum benefit. Includes meditation.

Yin Yoga - 60 Minutes.  A slow, meditative morning yoga class that gently stretches the deeper muscles, joints and fascia in your body and helps to quieten the mind. Incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time. Includes meditation.

Pranayama - 5 minutes - The practice of moving energy without moving the body, to make clear channels. It involves the mechanics of the breath as well as the cardiovascular, circulatory, pulmonary, endocrine, digestive and lymphatic system. A strong pranayama practice will yield a healthy immune system and help to resist dis-ease. During this breathing session you will learn to physically control the breath to yield a calm and clear thought field.

Meditation - 10 minutes - Using Pratyahara, Withdrawal of the senses, Pratyahara is the bridge between the external experiences of yoga and the internal experiences. You will guided to withdraw the senses by focusing on a object or a fixed spot or by closing the eyes and completing a guided body scan. To help reduce distractions is to put our awareness/focus on one particular thing. As we concentrate (Dharana) we can begin to cultivate states of concentration that eventually lead us into states of meditation (Dhyana)

Water is required for each class along with the following:

Yoga  - Mat, Blocks, strap

Yin Yoga - Bolster/pillows
